One woman seriously injured in Savannah wreck

SAVANNAH, Mo. - The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a woman was seriously injured after an accident in Andrew County.

The Patrol says 53-year-old Michelle Cairo, of Savannah, was driving a 1993 Plymouth Voyager on 71 Business Highway, just south of Savannah, at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday.

Authorities say the Voyager struck the rear of a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander that was turning left. Cairo, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, was taken to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph with serious injuries.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, 47-year-old Bridget Whitten of St. Joseph, suffered moderate injuries. Whitten was wearing a seat belt.
